The entire staff and management of Lohr Group are saddened to announce the death of Mr. Robert Lohr, founderof the company, who passed away on Thursday, May 8, at the age of 93.
As a visionary entrepreneur, Mr. Lohr devoted his life to developing his industrial company, driven by his passion for innovation and dedication to customer satisfaction. He gave the group a truly widespread international presence.
For over 60 years, he ensured the group’s growth in the civil and defense, as well as the road and rail sectors.
Starting from a family forge, he became the world leader in car carriers, constantly offering breakthrough solutions adapted to each market on every continent.
Building on the company’s industrial expertise and the excellence of its steelwork in particular, Mr. Lohr began diversifying in 1978 by launching the defense business, which became the dedicated company Soframe in 2000.
In the early 2000s, he set out to conquer railways with Modalohr, a new railroad motorway solution designed to enable all semi-trailers to travel by rail. More recently, the company has invested in new forms of mobility, such as the Cristal urban shuttle and the Draisy light rail project dedicated to local passenger transport.
He has instilled a certain idea of the company based on human values, imbued with his humility and attention to others, everywhere and always, on every market.
Committed to the future of his company and to defending industrial employment, Mr. Lohr organized his succession, thus ensuring the long-term future of Lohr Group and the stability of its governance.
